These pictures are of the bunching grass that grows in my back field.
I don't know what it is, I call it prairie grass.

Very young tree , but loaded with fruit. These fruits will soon be plucked by me and the branches can stretch out to the sky.

Moringa trees

I have been trying to get some Moringa Trees started from seeds.
This is my first seedling. They are supposed to grow 12 to 15 feet a year.
These trees are said to be miracle trees having high protein, calcium, vitamin A
and many medicinal uses. The leaves can be eaten like spinach. It also has bean pods
that can be eaten when young. These beans also are high in oil that can be
used for oil. It was a very high grade lubricant oil before whale oil and it can
be used in cooking and for lamp light. This is a very useful and healthful tree.
They call it the tree of life because it is so beneficial. Powdered leaves can be
ground and given to starving babies as a milk substitute, because of the protein,
calcium and vitamin A content They also have an edible flower that is said
to taste like mushroom and the roots can be used as horse radish substitute.

Just a whimsical picture.

Sunday, Mother's Day I had a special gift. I was preparing by loading up my truck to go with my daughter to my grand daughters for a mothers day picnic. I walked out the back door and across the sidewalk when out came the little coachwhip snake from the weeds and stopped right at my feet. There he/she stayed . I stopped what I was doing and talked to the little snake who seemed quite happy just sitting there at my feet. My dog who is jealous of any attention I give to my other animals immediately rolled over on her back so I would rub her tummy. This didn't bother the little coachwhip who was quite content listening to me talk. Finally my dog got up and sniffed the snake which triggered an escape.

We had a nice picnic with the great grands .

I have seen a snake twice now, outside. This is a coachwhip snake. The one that lives here is more of a soft pink and has dark rings around its neck. Yesterday I was out watering the garden when my resident snake slithered out and got a good bath in the spray from my hose. We had a little conversation and I felt happy that we had a moment to share.

I have an email friend in Texas and these are her dogs. I thought this was the cutest picture. She and I enjoy sharing seeds and tales of nature. I hear stories of her backyard that includes her ducks, frogs, snakes, birds and all that grows. I visualize a mini rain forest her backyard, full of life and fun.

My yucca is blooming and the prickly pear has a few blooms as well. In the distance is my new neighbor and between me and them is my mesquite that came up from seed. It's a respectable tree now. Lots of weeds this year and I work at it day by day, bit by bit.
