I plan to weave these polm fronds into a cattle panel and put on the top of the shade house. I have planted birdhouse gourds and climbing beans on the back panel. I am also going to plant kiwi to climb the back panel.

The Great grands have had a day of run, run, run. Living in a small apartment they are having a great time running out in the open spaces. They found my hats and have been having a great time with the hats. Dethin said, " Grandma, you have dirt." as he let it run through his fingers.

These three pines were here when I moved here. They are opposite the house in the island of the circle driveway. The other new plantings of pines are on the other side of the road against the fence. The smallest pine I transplanted as I didn't like the arrangement. It's had a tough time catching up with it's two buddies.

Just planted this week. Three new pines along the fence opposite of the three pines in a row above. The road makes a circle in front of the house. These pines were planted to help shield me from neighbors and to frame the mountain views. Farther down is a Cats Claw in bloom and a honey mesquete. Even farther down at the entrance to the property I've planted alternatively several palo verdes and mesquetes. In between them I have planted desert bird of paradise which blooms profusely with the most beautiful flowers.

I don't know what these are, either bird house gourds or hollyhock. I suspect gourd as they are growing uncovered along the fence and rabbits/quail don't seem to like gourds. When I planted I put in several different kind of seeds that's why I'm confused. I'll know soon enough.

Three sisters and a pototo tire. I plant more three sisters each week once they're big enough I remove the tire.

Getting it done. Sage is patiently putting up with the proceedure. She's a good girl, he talks to her like a person and she accepts the human help. She's never learned to be mean because she's never had to be.

Apple tree I planted yesterday. It will be interesting to see the pictures in a year.

Got this little sucker off one of the fig trees I planted. Good root system. I'm going to pot it up till it's bigger and plant it out or give it as a gift.

Found this in one of my favorite junk stores. I love this old bedframe but haven't decided where to put it in the garden yet. Below it is an old tool carrier I also found the same day and will plant it once I get it painted.

This is a new row of the three sisters, corn, pole beans and canteloupe in this row, with a few sunflowers and holly hocks thrown in for good measure. All covered to keep the rabbits and quail from eating the new seedlings.

This is the garden this week. Little plants are up. Something's eating this end of the row so I will have to replant. I've planted this week 2 fig trees, 4 pomegranates, an apple, an asian pear, a persimmon and a couple desert bird of paradise bushes. I'm adding to the infrastructure of the property with the fruit and nut trees.

Urban Legends Reference Pages: The Cow and the Snake

Urban Legends Reference Pages: The Cow and the Snake I saw this on line and thought it was worth sharing. Amazing photo of a python pulling a heavy prey up a cliff.
A beginning oasis. I'm working at creating my own little paradise. I'm longing for my trees to grow full and create more shade. For a real oasis, check out this blog:

Mexico really does it up right.

I feel like a jailer making the boys stay in the pen so I can garden. They call to me when they hear me outside of the pen. They have a very comfortable size pen and plenty of shade but does anyone ever like being penned up? After the vegies are bigger and can be less harmed by their picking away at them I will let them out again. If loose everything I plant they think is for them.

The garden from another view. I have tomatoes on the porch in pots, herbs, artichokes, and peppers. Some will go out in the garden later.

The vegitable garden is making progress. I plant the 3 sisters in the tires and cover them until they are large enough to handle a few rabbit nibbles. I've been planting the a little at a time to have a slow ripening season. They all have corn some have pumpkins, squash or melons and all have climbing green beans. I have swiss chard, beets, radishes, zuccini, and asparagus planted here, plus a row of corn and climbing green beans.
