The Burro Lady: When I was in Texas in April I saw a lone figure walking along the road with a burro packed with blankets. I latter learned this was a well known icon of the area. Judy Majors traveled on the long roads to and from the small towns in Brewster County Texas. Where I saw her was on the long stretch between Van Horn and Marfa. She slept on the ground and lived like this 20 or 30 years. This January in the cold she died at the age of 65 of a heart attack at her camp. You can read more about this lady at:
